Christmas has come early for 77 grassroots sporting and racing organisations across New Zealand, thanks to funding from the TAB’s Class 4 gaming (pokies) business.
Nearly $800,000 has been awarded to organisations such as Auckland Diving Community Trust Board, Mangawhai Heads Volunteer Lifeguard Service, Wellington Tennis and many more grassroots sporting clubs, services and events. For many of the clubs, the funding will help costs associated with new training equipment or uniforms, travel or hiring facilities and sports grounds.
The TAB has been a Class 4 gaming operator since 2011, and the net proceeds from TAB’s gaming operations are distributed to sporting communities across the country. The TAB’s Net Proceeds Committee (NPC) is committed to supporting as many clubs as possible through its community funding which is in addition to more than $10 million provided to national sporting organisations in 2019 by the TAB.
The next NPC meeting is scheduled for 20 February 2020. If you would like more gaming grant information, or you would like to apply for a gaming grant for your sporting organisation, check out our Grant Information & Dates page.
